SIMATIC RF 200 IO-Link - RFID systems with IO-Link
SIMATIC RF200 is the new, compact RFID system to ISO 15693 within the SIMATIC RF product family. The system consists of space-saving HF readers that are particularly suited for applications in intralogistics or in small assembly lines.
The new readers SIMATIC RF210R, RF220R and RF260R with the interface option for IO-Link can take on very basic identification tasks, e.g., reading an identification number or any user data ("Read Only"). It is particularly easy and affordable to read in the data automatically read by the reader to the automation level with the help of this standardized interface.
The comprehensive portfolio of particularly sturdy, industry-approved ISO 15693 data carriers from Siemens is available for the different areas of application: inexpensive Smart Labels that remain permanently on the product, screw-on transponders for easy assembly even per robot or transponder for flush installation into metal, e.g., on the workpiece carrier.

You can use the IO-Link interface to connect the SIMATIC RF200 readers to the controller by means of a corresponding IO-Link master module as they are currently being offered by many renowned manufacturers of automation solutions. Siemens offers a seamless integration into the established PROFINET and PROFIBUS fieldbuses and therefore into the world of Totally Integrated Automation with the two master modules of the distributed I/O systems: SIMATIC ET 200eco PN for the field level and ET 200S for the control cabinet. Both master modules let you connect up to 4 SIMATIC RF200 IO-Link readers. RFID-specific programming is not required.
The RFID system automatically supplies the data read by the transponder. It can read unique identification numbers (UID) as well as any user data of a predefined memory area. The data are displayed in the process image of the controller as soon as a transponder is in the field of a reader.
Parameter setting is simple and convenient with the Port Configuration Tool or PCT. It can be opened in STEP 7 as of V5.4 SP5 using the hardware configuration. A free standalone version is available in the Internet for the connection to automation systems from other manufacturers. There is also a device description file (IODD file) available in the Internet so that the PCT tool can immediately recognize the IO-Link reader with all variable names and setting options.
