Siemens Industry Automation Division of the Industry Sector organized the third annual customer event, Siemens Process Automation Conference (SPACe), at The Renaissance Mumbai Convention Centre Hotel, Powai. Held over two days, the event saw participation from CEOs, CTOs and technical heads of end-user organizations in addition to high-level technical experts, consultants, solution partners, OEMs and EPCs from across India. Teams comprising highly-experienced Siemens product experts and domain specialists from Germany and India were also present. Over 190 customers attended the event this year – up from over 40% from the first edition.
The first Process Automation summit with end-users was held in Goa, India in 2011. This event witnessed a turnout of 140 customers. Also, this format was so successful that by 2012, it was replicated in over 3 continents and 8 countries. This has now achieved the status of a must-visit event for process automation customers in India and across the globe.
With the primary objective of providing a platform for the customer community to come together and share with Siemens their experiences, knowledge and expertise, SPACe 2013 was based on the theme 'Network, Discover and Share'.
A welcome speech coupled with a brief introduction on the Industry sector by Mr. Bhaskar Mandal, Sector Cluster Lead, Industry Sector, Siemens South Asia Siemens, marked the beginning of the event. Presentations by key customers, videos of customer testimonials and launch of the fastest process controller - SIMATIC PCS 7 CPU410-5H - were some of the highlights of SPACe 2013. Additionally, presentations on COMOS and a technology forum were also organized. Mr. Axel Lorenz, Vice President for Process Automation, Siemens AG, elaborated on the global trends in Process Automation to the audience as well as with select representatives from media houses.
Overall, the event witnessed a commendable turn-out and was also well received by the customers.
